Mystery of the missing alpaca

Jos has been up early this morning getting all the alpacas ready for departure. He loaded the hay and feed, laid out the halters, everything was in place. It’s quite the production, such a show. But Joost returns to the Lunch Room much sooner than expected!

The panic is immediately visible on his face. We hear him shout: “Where is our little rascal? I can’t find him anywhere! Not in the field, not near the cabins or tents…”

The alpaca

Alpacas are very special animals. They have a gentle nature and a curious look. With their silky-soft fleece and friendly appearance, they quickly capture your heart. Originally, these animals come from the high plains of South America, specifically from Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. For thousands of years, they have lived in harmony with humans and are kept for their luxurious, warm wool. Unlike their larger cousin, the llama, alpacas are not used as pack animals. They’re smaller and are known for their calm and social nature. Alpacas are true herd animals and feel most at ease when they’re together.
